15 Man Roster & Player Definitions
Each franchise will retain the rights of a 15-Man Roster made up of only players within their franchises organization. The 15-Man Roster that you choose, however, is completely up to you based on a few conditions. Each player initially added to your 15-Man Roster must belong to your affiliate team, whether on the active roster, in the developmental league, or owned via draft rights (see link and explanation below). You must start with a minimum of 12 players, or maximum of 15 players. Once your 15-Man Roster is posted to the board entitled "Original 15-Man Rosters", this will be your roster throughout the season unless modified by free agent acquisitions or trades with other teams.
Active Roster & Injured Reserve
In PB's Fantasy Basketball, each 15-Man roster is composed of two parts: the 12-Man active roster, and the 3-Man injured reserve. The key difference between the two parts of the roster is that only players on the 12-Man active roster can collect stats, while the 3-Man injured reserve does not. Players can move up or down at any time between the two rosters by posting under the board, "Injured Reserve Call Ups/Downs". Regardless of which roster they are on, each players' salary counts towards the salary cap.
Quick Note
Often in the NBA Draft, teams take players only to let them continue to play in Europe. One great example is when the Spurs drafted Tony Parker. To find out which players teams have draft rights to, but may not be on an NBA roster, check out the site below. These players may be kept on your roster at the beginning and may be offered Free Agent contracts if they are not kept. Since they do not have contracts, they do not count against the cap UNLESS they are signed in Free Agency here.
